X5%20Header%201.jpegBMW is entering a new chapter. Its Neue Klasse, or "New Class," brings a fresh design language, a smarter digital cockpit, and next-generation electric technology to the brand's lineup. Two models lead the charge: the all-new 2027 BMW iX3 and the fifth-generation 2027 BMW X5. Both are now arriving at BMW of Birmingham, so here's what you need to know.

The 2027 BMW iX3: The First of the New Era

The BMW iX3 is the first Neue Klasse model, and it has already been named the 2026 World Car of the Year. The iX3 50 xDrive delivers 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque. It reaches zero-to-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and offers an estimated range of 383 to 434 miles. Its sixth-generation 800-volt technology can DC fast-charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 21 minutes, and bidirectional charging lets it serve as a backup power source for your home.

Inside, BMW Panoramic Vision projects key information across the lower windshield. A 603-horsepower iX3 M60 xDrive is on the way for drivers who want even more performance.

The 2027 BMW X5: The Original SAV, Reimagined

The BMW X5 created the Sports Activity Vehicle segment in 1999, and its fifth generation offers BMW's broadest range of powertrains yet. The X5 40 xDrive uses an updated three-liter inline six-cylinder engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. It produces 394 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. The X5 50e xDrive plug-in hybrid delivers 483 combined horsepower and an estimated 44 miles of electric range.

For the first time, the X5 lineup also includes an all-electric iX5 60 xDrive. It produces 570 horsepower and offers an estimated range of up to 435 miles. Every new X5 features BMW Panoramic iDrive, a standard 3D Head-Up Display and a 17.9-inch Central Display. A panoramic glass sunroof also comes standard.
