What are Tesla Superchargers?
Tesla Superchargers are high-speed charging stations designed specifically for Tesla electric vehicles. These chargers provide up to 250kW of power, allowing Tesla owners to charge their car's battery to 80% in as little as 30-40 minutes. The Tesla Supercharger network currently includes over 35,000 Superchargers worldwide.
Can Electric BMWs Use Tesla Superchargers?
Exciting news for electric BMW owners! Starting in early 2025, new BMW EV models will be adopting Tesla's CCS charging port. This means that new BMW EVs like the BMW iX and BMW i5 will have direct compatibility with the Tesla Supercharger network.
With this change, BMW owners will be able to take advantage of Tesla's extensive charging infrastructure, making long distance travel more convenient than ever. Imagine being able to quickly charge your electric BMW in just 30-40 minutes while on a road trip, without having to worry about finding a compatible charging station.
Other Charging Options for Electric BMWs
In addition to soon being able to use Tesla Superchargers, electric BMW models can also be charged at any public charging station that uses the standard CCS or J1772 connectors. BMW is actively expanding its own network of charging stations as well, with the goal of having 100,000 charge points available worldwide by the end of 2025. Each new BMW will come with adapters that will allow you to use any charging station you come across, so you never have to worry about finding a place to plug in.
