Your BMW model is equipped with lots of features to help keep you safe on the road, but your tires reign over all of them. If your tires are in poor condition or under-inflated, you put yourself at risk and you sacrifice fuel economy.

Luckily, it's fairly simple to check and maintain the health of your tires with these steps:

Check tread depth with the Penny Test. Insert a penny top-first into the tire tread. If you can see Lincoln's head, the tread is too worn. This presents a safety hazard and your tire should be replaced.

Check wheel alignment. If you notice unusual wear on your tires or your car tends to list in a particular direction, your alignment might be off. This can really do a number on your tires and should be addressed quickly.

Rotate your tires. You should get this done when you get your oil changed to help ensure even tread for all four tires.
