Consumer Reports Puts the BMW i4 On Top

While range is slightly in the Tesla Model 3’s favor at 341 miles versus 318 miles in the BMW i4, Consumer Reports doesn’t seem to mind. When it comes to overall customer satisfaction, the BMW i4 is far and away ahead of the Tesla Model 3. With a Consumer Reports score of 83, the i4 is CR’s second-favorite EV overall. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 earned a score of 54, putting it eighth in Consumer Reports’ rankings.

Range Testing Reveals Tesla Falls Short

While Consumer Reports testing finds 341 miles of range in the Tesla Model 3, other publications find that Tesla’s compact EV falls considerably short. Car and Driver managed just 240 miles of highway driving from a full charge, while MotorTrend managed 250 miles in a similar test. Both of those figures are well behind the 333-mile range estimate from Tesla. Meanwhile, Edmunds found that the BMW i4 xDrive40 could do 307 miles from a full charge, and Consumer Reports noted 318 miles of total range.
