New Exterior Updates
For 2024, the BMW X5 gets just a handful of styling tweaks as part of its mid-cycle refresh. Updated kidney grilles are now more aggressive, but not in the same way as the new 7 Series or BMW M cars. Furthermore, gloss black accents and quad-tip exhaust pipes are the new look for the M60i version of the X5, giving it a more aggressive setup than its siblings.
New Mild-Hybrid Power
Now, every model of the BMW X5 carries some form of electrification, as even the base powertrain options get the 48-volt mild-hybrid upgrade. That pushes the 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine up to 375 horsepower, 40 more than the previous model. Meanwhile, the 4.4-liter V8 in the M60i still makes 523 horsepower, but the added mild-hybrid system helps improve city fuel economy.
If you're interested in a plug-in hybrid variant of the X5, have no fear. The xDrive50e model is still available, featuring a turbocharged six-cylinder with an electric motor that combine for 483 total horsepower. Furthermore, you can now travel up to 40 miles on electric power alone, and can charge both at home and on public charging stations.
